The Perfect Gasoline

Imagine a man who has just bought a Ferrari. Immensely proud, he decides to show off his new possession to all of his closest friends. The trouble is, the car has no gasoline. After valiantly trying to push the car down the road for over an hour, the man sits down on the pavement and wonders what to do with his beautiful, but useless, possession.

Before long, a passerby informs him that there is nothing wrong with the car; he is simply out of gas. Dutifully, the man walks to the nearest gas station and buys 10 gallons of premium gasoline. Arriving back at his Ferrari, he pours the gasoline into the tank and heads on down the road.

Before long, the man arrives at his best friend’s house. As his friend opens the door to greet him, the driver jumps out of his Ferrari, runs up to his friend, and proudly declares,

“Look! I just got the best gasoline a man could ever have!”

Jesus came to declare the name of His Father, Yahweh. He came to restore our broken relationship with our Heavenly Father and, in doing so, allow us to become coheirs with Him of all that the Father has. His name is literally “Yahweh Saves” and He declared to the world that eternal life is to know Yahweh, the Father, and His Son. Indeed, Jesus said that He was sent by the Father to be the first born amongst many brethren. Every believer has been given the glory of the Living God of Israel, and we are encouraged to ask our Father directly for the desires of our heart. Amazingly, Yahweh, Himself, loves us as much as He loves Jesus.

It is true that without Jesus’ death and resurrection we would be unable to have God live in our hearts, and our eternal destiny would never be fulfilled. But Jesus is known as the Way and the Door for a reason. A way to where? A door to whom? Jesus is the door to our Father, Yahweh. He is the Way that leads us home.

Indeed, when we are through with this earth it is Yahweh, Himself, who will wipe away our tears. And at the end of this age, Jesus will turn the new heavens and earth over to His Father.

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of Yahweh shall be saved.”
Joel 2:32 and Acts 2:21

“Let all those that love the name of Yahweh be joyful in Him.”
Psalm 5:11

The name of Messiah will be, “Yahweh, our righteousness.”
Jeremiah 23:5,6

“Hear, O Israel, Yahweh, our God, Yahweh is one.”
Deuteronomy 6:4

Jesus is Yahweh come in the flesh. And while men walked with Jesus, and touched the very hair on his head, it will not be until our Father has put all things under the feet of Jesus that we get to the real end game: we will then know the Father as well as the Father knows us. We will, on that day, be able to number the hairs on our heavenly Father’s head. On that day we will finally be fully restored.
“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

Jesus came to make us the Righteousness of Yahweh, so that our hearts would become the dwelling place of the Living God of Israel and we would once again bear the image of our Father. This is the good news we are called to proclaim.
